SourceWriter makes it simple for you to select the correct input screen so that you enter all the pieces needed to correctly cite any source of information in the thousands of formats that exist for them.  The information you enter is correctly and precisely formatted to match the genealogy industry standards for source citations when printing footnotes, endnotes, and bibliographies.  Multiple citations for an event can be combined into one paragraph, thus avoiding a long string of superscripted numbers within the report body.
• Interview Reports – Choose from over 1,200 carefully pre-written interview questions and memory triggers to help you capture your family’s memories before it is too late.
• Guided Setup Wizard – Getting started with Legacy is even easier now. The new guided setup wizard takes you by the hand and guides you through the setup process in an easy-to-understand way.

• Edit Records from the "Used By" Lists - All of the master lists in Legacy have an option to view the individuals who use the items in the list.  You can now edit those individuals right from the list instead of having to exit the list and edit them separately.
• Standardization Tips – New alerts will appear if something questionable has been entered in the Individual's Information screen. This helps users keep their data standardized.
• Privacy – enhanced privacy options ensure that only the information you want to share will be visible to others
• Best Fit Child Columns - The new Best Fit option in the Family View expands or contracts the child list columns to fit the number of children for the current couple.  No more trying to guess the optimum number of child columns.  Legacy does it for you.

• Addresses - There is a new option to set the address style of the city, state, and postal code when printing reports.  The options are "City, State, Postal Code" and "Postal Code, City, State."
• GEDCOM Import - Added a new option on the import screen to "Sort events by Date while importing."  Some other programs don't export events in chronological order so this was needed to get them back into order.
• Check/Repair - Added a new option on the File, File Maintenance, Check/Repair screen to "Sort events by date".
• Multiple lines of Descent Report - If there are no marriages selected the report automatically prompts for them.  Ranges of MRINs are now supported.  E.g. (1-5, 23-42)
• Potential Problems Reports - Added Printer Setup button.
• Sound formats - Added the .wma (Windows Media Audio) file format to the Open dialog box when adding a sound file to an individual.  This type of sound file will only play when you are using the Default Media Player option on the Options > Customize > Launch tab.
• Source Clipboard - Added the ability to put font formatting codes into the text of the Source Detail and Source Detail Text fields.
• Web Page - The option on the Graphics tab to "To use a solid background color" was only a Deluxe Edition feature.  We have enabled this for the Standard Edition.
• Web Page - The option on the Who tab to "Include Private Individuals" was only a Deluxe Edition feature.  We have enabled this for the Standard Edition.

• Publishing Center - The options to change Page Setup and Font options are now only available from the Publishing Center Options tab while building a big book.  All the other Page Setup and Font options are now disabled on the forms used to set options for specific report chapters.
• Publishing Center - When adding a Multiple Lines of Descent chapter to a book, the MRIN list is now reset to include only the current marriage.  The user is then prompted to select the desired marriages for the report.
• RTF Pictures - The option to embed pictures in RTF file is now found on the Pictures tab of the Report Options screen instead of the Other tab of the main customize screen.
• Report Indexes - Clicking the Index checkbox with neither a Name or Location Index selected, automatically opens the Index Options screen where you can select the desired index(es).
• Report Indexes - Selecting either type of index from the Index Options screen automatically turns on the index printing checkbox.
• Report Indexes - You can now select either a Name Index, Location Index, Both, or None.  Formerly you had to have a Name Index in order to have a Location Index.
• Source Citations on Reports - Master and Detail pictures are now included when doing RTF style output.

• Date Formats - Legacy now recognizes quarter dates commonly used in UK BMD Index records.  (e.g. Mar Q 1873, Jun Q 1873, Sep Q 1873, Dec Q 1873)
• Text Editor Window in the Publishing Center - Added Spell Checking option.
• Event Window - Font format control codes can once again be added to the Name, Description, and Location fields of an Event by using Ctrl-B, Ctrl-I, Ctrl-U, and Ctrl-S.  These codes are then converted to the proper formatting when printed on reports and web pages.
• Main Toolbar - If the main window is made narrower than the width needed for all the main toolbar icons, the icons will wrap to a second line so that they can all be seen and used.
• Book Reports - The Table of Contents is now generated and moved to the beginning of the report.
• Publishing Center - All the introductory sections (Title Page, Copyright, Dedication, Preface, and Abbreviation pages) are now displayed before the Table of Contents as they should be.
• Family Group Record - The Last Modified date now shows the most current date for anyone on the report.  This includes the husband, wife, children, parents or spouses.
• Options > Customize - The Date Preposition option has been moved from the View tab to the Date tab (where it belongs).
• GEDCOM Export - Changed Repository notes to level 1 instead of 2.  Several other programs were not reading them from level 2.
• Report Screens - Added PDF output option to 31 report screens to make it easier to create these files.

Fixed

Notes - Saving of notes with apostrophes was sometimes causing an error 13. Fixed.

• Reports - If you selected to print to PDF and then cancelled, some buttons on the report screen were not re-enabled.  Fixed.
• Picture Gallery - When .pdf, .doc, .txt, .wpd, and .xls documents are linked through the Video button in the Picture Gallery, the Play button now displays these files when the Built-in Legacy Player is selected in Customize > Launch. (Previously they were only displaying when using the Windows Media Player option.)
• Marriage Event Sentences - Couple name fields were not being replaced correctly in marriage events on the Family Group Record.  Fixed.
• Publishing Center - Successive FGR reports were raising the bottom margin a bit each time.  Fixed.
• Note Fields - Pictures pasted into Note fields was causing Legacy to hang when saved.  Pictures are not currently supported in Note fields so they are now removed during processing.
• Location Report - When using the "Use current sort order of Master Location list," the short location names were not included when requested.  Fixed.
• Location Report - The Short Location names were not formatted correctly.  Fixed.
• Location Report - The settings for using long and/or short location names was not being saved between sessions.  Fixed.
• Publishing Center - The RIN/MRIN settings in individual reports were causing some names in the index to have the numbers and other to not have them, thus resulting in duplicate names in the index.  Fixed.
• Publishing Center - The Change Person button now works for Picture Scrapbook chapters.
• Report Printing - The Horizontal Duplex setting on the Page Setup screen now works correctly.  (It used to produce only one blank page for any report.)
• Temple Submission - The LDS filters now work as they should.
• GEDCOM Export - When suppressing information for living individuals some were being exported with an indicator that they were dead.  Fixed.
• Marriage List - The font size setting for the list is now remembered.
• Scrapbook Options - The settings for individual and marriage tags are now saved and restored.
• Note Fields - The initial font size when a notes window is opened is now correct (the previously selected Zoom size).
• Reports - The [CoupleNames] field in report titles was show the actual names for Private individuals.  Fixed.
• Name List - Filtering options.  Fixed a couple filtering problems that were not working correctly from the Options, Filter List option on the Temple tab.
• IGI Search - Filtering options.   After creating a filter the wrong filter message was being shown for two of the filter options.
• Legacy Home To-Do reminders - Fixed the problem from the last build where the filtering for To-Do Reminders was not working correctly.
• Edit Marriage - Enhanced the Repeat functionality and worked on making the report wording options honor the highlight field when entering.

• Fixed a problem where some filter list options were not working correctly.
• Fixed a problem where the Year range option on the LDS Filter list was not working if there were no individuals that fell within the year range specified.

Locations - The last build accidentally removed the Preposition field. It's back.

PDF Generation - Changed to an updated PDF control to fix the problems with "font not specified."

Publishing Center

• Compiler and Credit lines were printing above the bottom line for the "Additional" pages such as Preface, Forward, etc.  Fixed.
• Fixed some RTF format issues.

• Timelines - added historical timeline of the jurisdictional history of Ontario, Canada. Contributed by Jim Terry.
• Timelines - added an Inventions timeline. This historical timeline, which can be merged with your ancestor's chronology view, displays inventions from the year 1023 to the year 1999. Makes for a fun way to see what was happening during your life or your ancestor's life.
• Timelines - added a general history timeline for Denmark.
• Publishing Center - Added a "Delete a Saved Book" button.
• Load a Picture - Added a Find box on the Load a Picture screen. When you start typing a filename, the highlight bar jumps down into the list to match what you have typed.
• Backups - After a backup of a family file, a prompt is displayed asking if the multimedia files should also be backed up.
• Forms Center - added a few new forms. If anyone has any forms they would like to see added to Legacy please send them to us.

Tabs in Notes - Tabs that end up in notes from a paste operation or from using Ctrl-Tab, are now retained and used when printing reports. There still remains the possibility that tabs within a line will push some text off the end of the line and into the left margin of the next line, but if used judiciously they can be used to line up columns of information on multiple lines.

IGI Search - Filter List, using current search results has been fixed.

Marriage List - Resizing of the columns was not working correctly.

Potential Problems List - Fixed a problem where entries were not removed when an individual in your Legacy family file was deleted.
